Overview

Kind of Work

Performs technical and specialized administrative duties acting as a facilitator between Orleans Parish Communications District (OPCD) dispatchers and fire personnel. Work includes monitoring fire events in real time keeping field supervisors and other emergency personnel up to date with information. Work also includes resolving communication issues between NOFD field personnel and communications personnel; and related work as required.

 

Minimum Qualifications
  1. High School Diploma or a GED, issued by a US State Department of Education
  2. An Associate's degree/Certification in Fire Technology.
  3. A current Firefighter I Certification.*
  4. Four (4) years of responsible experience in fire suppression or fire communications for the New Orleans Fire Department.
Note:

Two additional years of responsible experience in fire suppression or fire communications for the New Orleans Fire Department may be substituted for the Associate's degree/Certificate in Fire Technology.


* Prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify education and certifications claimed by the applicant to qualify for this classification. If selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this job classification.

A qualifying rating of training and experience, weighted 100%.
