Overview

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, accounting, finance, or a related field; two years of experience in providing professional-level administrative, analytical and/or operational support in the assigned area of responsibility; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience in human resources preferred. PC skills to include email, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe InDesign; organizational and analytical skills; ability to manage multiple priorities; knowledge of business office practices; project management skills; strong oral and written communication skills, including AP style writing and preparing complex correspondence; experience taking large amounts of data and developing meaningful reports and presentations; ability to establish effective internal and external working relationships; high level of professionalism and ability to interact with county executives, external partners, employees and other customers on the phone, in person and at the front desk. Provide exceptional customer service. Pre­ employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.

Duties

Provide administrative support to and management of various projects and programs for the Director of Human Resources and other HR staff; maintain the Director’s calendar; and follow up on action items on behalf of the Director. Draft, prepare and update various forms, presentations, and complex correspondence such as policy drafts, countywide communications on new rules, procedures/programs, grievance determinations and decisions; coordinate approval of policy exceptions and advise departments of approval and request any action/forms needed. Create and maintain grievance files, track the status of grievances and deadlines, draft related correspondence, and schedule Step IV hearings with the Personnel Appeals Board and county staff. Serve as one of the backups for various administrative functions and provide scheduling support for the department. Provide other administrative support as needed. Perform other work as required.
