Pikes Peak State College is located at the foot of Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs, Colorado. PPSC offers broad programs in transfer, occupational, and preparatory subjects emphasizing student and community needs. Colorado Springs is a great city to both work and live. This position is located at the Centennial Campus.

Description of Job

JOB DUTIES:   Your application must provide a detailed description of your relevant work experience in relation to the following duties:  This position works primarily In the Enrollment Services Call Center to provide customer service to new and current students with all enrollment related processes, procedures, and Information. Each day necessitates interaction with current and prospective students potentially in person, over the phone, via email, text, chat or virtually. During the workday the position will advise, educate and work with students to educate them In the use of online process of applying for admission, requesting transcripts, registering for classes, adding and dropping classes, reviewing the status of student accounts, financial aid awards, and navigating the student portal, email, and Navigate system. Discuss residency classification information with students and Its relation to the application process. This position resolves student concerns or issues. Cooperatively resolves disagreements and helps mediate issues with students and with coworkers. This position is the primary content writer for chatbot and live chat responses and will collaborate with colleagues and departments across the college to grow the chat bat's knowledge bank and keep response information updated.

This position provides customer service to new and current students regarding financial aid. Students are to be provided assistance and guidance in the areas of applying for financial aid, processing of financial aid and maintaining their financial aid. This position will also educate students on the use of the online FAFSA and will be required to answer detailed financial aid questions. Financial aid documents will be reviewed and verified for accuracy and documented in Banner and submitted to the appropriate forum for processing. Determinations as to whether additional information or documentation may be needed, as per federal and state regulations, Is also a function of this position. This position also participates in new student orientation to help explain financial aid processes to new applicants and helps them through financial aid steps as part of new student orientation.

As a member of enrollment services, this position reviews student records and related documents on a dally basis. Documents are processed (add/drop forms, selective service holds, withdrawal forms, requests for transcripts, etc.) as required under colleges and departmental policy and procedures in the student information system, Banner. This position will provide students with guidance on where electronic enrollment forms can be found on the PPSC website or student portal.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Three years of general clerical experience utilizing Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook. Your application must be completed in detail documenting your clerical and Microsoft Office experience. Candidate must have experience providing customer service and interfacing with a variety of people from many levels within an organization and community.  Do not use "SEE RESUME" statements on application; your application must be completed in detail and clearly document your relevant work experience. (Part time experience will be pro-rated). 

SUBSTITUTION:   College, university or non-correspondence business school course work from an accredited institution may substitute for the general clerical experience on a year-for-year basis.  (30 semester hours equals one year)However, there is no substitution for the Microsoft Office experience.You must submit a copy of your unofficial transcripts with your application by the closing date in order to be considered. Redact your personal identifying information on your transcript.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: Please provide a detailed description on your application of your relevant work experience and document examples of your work in relation to the following experience: Previous call center experience; knowledge of and experience with a student information system such as Banner Information System; proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office Software including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with Navigate, experience working with scanning/coping equipment; experience working in a fast paced, customer service, live chat responses, data entry, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.  Experience in a higher education institution as a clerical or administrative assistant. Daily interaction with students, faculty and staff requires that this position have strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Strong time management and organizational skills; critical thinking skills. Ability to deal with a diverse population with discretion and tact. 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:   Must submit to and successfully complete a pre-employment background check as a condition of hire.   Felony convictions or conviction of crimes of moral turpitude or convictions of misdemeanors related to job duties may disqualify you from consideration for this position. Should your background check reveal any charges and convictions, it is your responsibility to provide Pikes Peak State College, Office of Human Resources with an official disposition of the charges. This position may require additional travel to other campuses along with working occasional nights and weekends.
