Examples of Work

This Auditor will work under the direction of the NRGC Director of Compliance. This position is responsible for performing complex financial audits of electronic gaming devices, table games, sports wagering and slot accounting systems to determine that all State Statutes and rules and regulations are being followed.

An employee in this class mainly determines compliance with prescribed standards and performs various audits of accounting records. Audits will relate to statutory compliance and general accounting practices. Perform audit testing to ensure that Authorized Gaming Operators are in compliance with policies, procedures, internal controls, regulations and applicable laws. Determine if all Authorized Gaming Operator’s financial reports are in compliance with the Nebraska Racetrack Gaming Act and rules and regulations of the NRGC. Conducts routine to complex field review and audits of statistical and financial records of Authorized Gaming Operators. Perform audit testing to make the determination of the accuracy of all documentation related to electronic gaming devices, table games, sports wagering and slot accounting systems are generated by Authorized Gaming Operators

The employee may work alone but under the supervision of the Director of Compliance. Fieldwork is ordinarily performed independently within the outlines of established policies and procedures and an approved audit program. 

Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in business administration or the equivalent, with at least 24 semester hours of accounting or auditing. 

LEGAL REQUIREMENTS: Positions in this classification are subject to Title 42, Nebraska Administrative Code, Chapter 1 – Minimum Standards for Government Employees Identified as Auditors. Any combination of education with a concentration in accounting and auditing experience acceptable to the Auditor of Public Accounts, may be substituted for the educational requirements listed above in "REQUIREMENTS", (Section 002.01 of Title 42). 

OTHER: Day and overnight travel is required for this position. Must possess a valid driver's license and evidence of vehicle insurance or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation. Must pass a criminal background check and motor vehicle records check.
