Kind of Work

Professional, highly complex, technical and specialized, administrative, inspectional and liaison work performing tasks associated with operational and management activities of the Legal Department at the Airport.  Work includes establishing and monitoring management controls for assigned operational area and ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations pertaining to Board operations where applicable; and related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.*
  2. Possession of a valid driver's license.* Applicants must be eligible for coverage under the airport's auto liability insurance policy.
  3. EITHER: Four (4) years of professional, salaried experience in a comprehensive risk management program.
    OR: Two (2) years of experience in tort litigation and a current license to practice law in the state of Louisiana. License will be verified through the Louisiana State Bar Association.

An Associate in Risk Management certification (ARM) or equivalent risk-management certification may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.

Note: Pay above the minimum for superior qualifications may be granted under Civil Service Commission Rule IV Sec. 2.7 based on a review of the applicant pool, candidate's verified experience, education, and/or possession of related certifications.

Note: If appointed, an Associate in Risk Management certification (ARM) or equivalent risk-management certification must be obtained during the probationary period. No probationary period may last longer than one year. Failure to receive ARM certification will result in termination.

This position requires a one (1) year probationary period.

* Prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify education, valid driver's license, and certificates claimed by the applicant to qualify for this classification. If selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this job classification.
Kind of Examination

A rating of training and experience weighted 100%.  All related previous experience will be considered for qualification purposes; however, credit on the rating of training and experience will only be given for experience gained within the last ten (10) years.

Note:  Candidates must pass a personal, criminal, and employment background check required under federal regulations.

This is an original entrance examination.
