Full Time Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter, 1855 SE Inner Loop, Georgetown, TX 78626, United States


Reporting directly to the Animal Services Assistant Manager, responsible for front-desk operations and customer service at the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (WCRAS). Level I of II in Animal Services Specialists.

  • Performs front-desk reception and customer service
  • Processes intake of stray, owner-surrendered, community cats, and rabies-quarantine animals
  • Reviews animal microchip data: may contact microchip company, veterinarian and/or registered pet owners to facilitate return
  • Records documentation of animal health, behavior, medication, and vaccination status
  • Reviews and processes applications and provides counseling for adoptions and fosters
  • Processes payments, issues receipt and balances a cash drawer
  • Performs data entry and maintains electronic documentation files
  • Receives and distributes deliveries of supplies and donations
  • Performs janitorial duties to maintain the administrative areas of the shelter
  • Follows all safety measures and policies, including proper animal restraints and reading animal behavioral cues, and promptly reports any safety incidents to leadership
  • Performs special duties as assigned

  • Position involves prolonged sitting at a workstation, reaching, walking, twisting, bending, repetitive motions and standing
  • Position involves lifting and carrying of animals and equipment up to twenty-five (25) pounds, and exertion of up to twenty-five (25) pounds of force to move objects
  • Ability to hear and/or see alert cues regarding animal and staff security

  • Work is primarily indoors in an air-conditioned environment
  • Frequent handling of animals, including contact with waste and blood
  • Exposure to unpleasant smells and a noisy and wet environment associated with a shelter
  • Exposure animals that are agitated or injured that may attempt to bite or scratch

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement
  • May be deemed essential personnel for emergency situations at discretion of Director

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year of administrative experience, preferably in a customer-service role
  • One (1) year cash-handling experience

  • Required within thirty (30) days of employment
  • Valid driver’s license

  • Three (3) years of administrative experience, preferably in a customer service role
  • Experience in animal behavior, health, or welfare field
  • Bilingual (Spanish)
