San Bernardino County 

is accepting applications for

Automated Systems Technicians, 

who maintain desktop PCs, local/wide area networks, and a variety of hardware and software. Typical duties include installing, maintaining, configuring, and replacing desktop PCs, printers, software, and user accounts.

Current vacancies exist throughout the County. The eligible list from this recruitment may be used to fill current and future vacancies throughout the County.

The eligible list may also be used to fill vacancies with the County Special Districts, Fire Department and CONFIRE JPA.

The County Fire District and Special Districts Department are separate entities from the San Bernardino County, and as such, compensation and benefits for their positions are set forth in a different compensation plan. The salary for County Fire and Special Districts Automated Systems Technician is up to $33.19/hour (26).

Pre-Employment Process: Applicants must successfully pass a background check and a job-related physical exam, including a drug test, prior to employment.     

Some positions require availability for night and swing shifts, weekends, and on-call, including holidays and in support of 24-hour facilities, as needed. The Department of Public Works will require availability in support of extended business hours at Solid Waste facilities, as needed.


Arrowhead Regional Medical Center incumbents will be required to work inside and near patient care areas.

Minimum Requirements
Eligible candidates must meet ONE of the below qualifying options: 

Six (6) months of full-time equivalent experience in a customer service environment providing IT technical support for computerized systems. Experience must be within the last three (3) years.


Fifteen (15) semester or twenty-three (23) quarter units of completed post-high school level coursework in information technology, computer sciences, or closely related field. OR Comp TIA: A+, Network +, Security +, MCSE, CCNA or comparable certificate.


Current San Bernardino County PSE/WEX/Intern performing related duties to an

with an Associate's Degree in

information technology, computer sciences, or closely related

field (or equivalent).

Substitutions for Option 1: 

Six (6) months of additional qualifying experience may substitute for the required education or certification OR a Bachelor's Degree in information technology, computer sciences, or closely related field may substitute for the required six (6) months of qualifying experience.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Advanced technical skills with PCs, smart devices, and printers
  • Technical experience with MS Office Suite; Windows Desktop Platform; physical and wireless networked systems
