The Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) is currently accepting applications for Behavioral Health Program Managers I*. Program Managers I are responsible for managing a key program component and assisting in planning and organizing a comprehensive behavioral health program; preparing, monitoring and enforcing contracts with behavioral health service providers; and providing clinical and/or administrative supervision. Managers may be responsible for the oversight of field-based staff. A vacancy currently exists within the 24-Hour and Emergency Services Program,the eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill vacancies as they occur.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Background Check: Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation, which includes fingerprinting, credit check, and/or medical exam, which may include drug and/or TB testing. Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or a permanent U.S. resident. 

Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required depending on assignment. Employees will be required to make provision for transportation (mileage reimbursement is available at current IRS rates). A valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced and maintained for the individual providing the transportation. 

License: For some positions, licensure as a Marriage Family Therapist, Clinical Social Worker, Professional Clinical Counselor, or Psychologist may be required.Positions in Adult Criminal Justice require licensure as a Marriage Family Therapist, Clinical Social Worker, Professional Clinical Counselor, or Psychologist. Applicants must indicate licensure and availability to work in Adult Criminal Justice on the supplemental questionnaire to be considered. Other programs may also require licensure as needed. 

Minimum Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in behavioral or social science, healthcare administration, human services, public/business administration, or related field of study.

AND

Experience: Two (2) years of professional-level administrative, clinical, and/or supervisory experience, which includes responsibility in one or more of the following areas: development of programs, policies and procedures; compliance/quality management; data/legislative analysis; monitoring contracts; or budget/fiscal administration. Clerical and/or routine accounting experience is not considered qualifying.

Substitution: A Master's degree in a qualifying field may substitute for up to one (1) year of the required experience. 

Desired Qualifications

Applicants fluent in American Sign Language, Arabic, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish, Tagalog, and/or Vietnamese are strongly encouraged to apply. Additional compensation is associated with positions requiring the use of bilingual skills. Testing of bilingual skills may be required to receive additional compensation.
