Work in a community setting, providing quality nursing care in the Lincoln Community Health Center Veterans Administration (VA) program.

Providing direct patient care as the RN for the Office Based Addiction Treatment (OBAT), School Based Health Center and VA as assigned. Promotes health through education, care coordination and health maintenance.

Typical Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

Minimum Education Level

Associates and/or Professional Certification 

Specifics: Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing.

Minimum Experience Level

Two- Three years 

Specifics: Three years of nursing experience.

Substitution Note: Practicums in Nursing programs and lived experience may substitute for years of experience.

Driver’s License

Oregon Driver's License required.

Specifics: A valid, insurable State of Oregon driver's license at the time of appointment.

Other Licenses

Professional License required.

Specifics: Must possess a valid license to practice in the State of Oregon as a Registered Nurse.

Desirable Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing with one year of nursing experience, preferably in a primary care position. Bilingual and/or bicultural competencies for the Latino population are preferred.

Knowledge of:  

  • The principles, practices, methods, and procedures of nursing as applied to community and public health.
  • The uses and effects of medications, immunizations.
  • Issues of alcohol and drug abuse; the "strength-based" model of behavior change.
  • Problem-solving techniques and negotiation skills in accordance with motivational interviewing and behavior change theory.
  • Utilization of community resources; medical record keeping practices.
  • Functions and resources of private and public agencies. 
  • Electronic Health Record.

Skill or ability to:

  • Build therapeutic relationships and maintain therapeutic boundaries.
  • Engage clients in mutual goal setting; provide professional nursing care independently.
  • Identify community and individual health problems and to plan and administer solutions.
  • Administer medications and immunizations.
  • Interpret and apply written policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Establish and maintain records; learn new information quickly and adapt to changing situations.
  • Use research, data, and evidence-based practices to inform and improve nursing practice.
  • Courteously meet and deal with patients; act in a professional manner and to understand and commit to a professional code of ethics.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of privileged information in accordance with HIPAA and Lincoln County policies.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with staff, supervisors, physicians, other agencies and the public; create a positive work environment that promotes productivity, mentoring, teamwork and cooperation; elicit and consider differing viewpoints when analyzing issues; recognize the accomplishments of team members.
