JOB SUMMARY

The Director - US Risk Management will be an experienced financial professional with leadership skills and technical mastery to manage the Company’s US insurance programs and support the US operations with a focus on Commercial Auto Liability and Workers Compensation. The Director will be proficient in identifying and evaluating financial, organizational, natural and strategic risks and addressing those risks by defining and implementing risk management policy, strategy and programs across all areas of the organization. The Director will excel in a high-transaction volume, tight timeline environment with the ability to compartmentalize objectives. The Director will liaise internally and externally and will have constant communication with HR, Legal, and Operations, amongst others.

Demonstrated experience and success in a global, multi-cultural organization is required. Further, the successful candidate will possess a high level of self-sufficiency and the ability to work through problems. Last, the Director will be diplomatic and tactful when working with colleagues, staff and other stakeholders.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on risk management and insurance, specifically managing Worker’s Compensation and Auto Liability claims, and be an accessible resource to senior management and operating unit leaders
  • Assess insurance programs and place appropriate classes of cover
  • Coordinate submission of Company-wide risk information to insurance brokers
  • Communicate in a clear, concise and timely manner to senior management and all stakeholders
  • Prepare and present annual insurance renewal report to senior management as appropriate
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly liability accruals in conjunction with U.S. Finance and Accounting
  • Prepare and support insurance premium allocation across managed insurance lines
  • Review and validate payment of insurance premium to insurers and brokers
  • Respond to coverage and exposure questions from colleagues across the Company
  • Provide contract support by reviewing and advising on insurance and indemnity clauses
  • Support internal business partners in response to client RFQ’s, contract renewals, etc. with regards to risk pricing and assumption of exposure
  • Partner with members of in-house counsel as necessary to manage claims against the Company, including participation in mediation.
  • Manage a team of risk professionals overseeing Worker’s Compensation and Automobile Liability claims
  • Oversee third party adjusters and insurer relations
  • Review and negotiate insurance policy wordings with and through brokers and insurers.
  • Supervise insurance brokers’ management and administration of program(s)
  • Participate in broker meetings, claims reviews and relationship meetings with insurers and other service providers as appropriate
  • M&A due diligence and integration
  • Other tasks, as assigned

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in a multi-national company

In-depth knowledge of worker’s compensation and auto liability. Knowledge of property / casualty is a plus

Ability to balance multiple tasks and effectively prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment

High level of diplomacy and tact, ensuring confidentiality of information when required

Executive level verbal and written communication skills

Self-motivated, determined, and able to work under own initiative

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Collaborative style with excellent interpersonal skills

Willingness to travel domestically and internationally in fulfilling responsibilities

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Business Administration, Finance, or other related field

Associate of professional Risk Management organization/body and/or Chartered Property Liability Underwriter certification highly desirable
