DSHS Senior Human Resources Business Partner

We're looking for an experienced Subject Matter Expert in the Human Resource Profession. In our new business model, you'll become a trusted leader as the Senior Human Resource Business Partner by partnering with Executive Leadership to align human resource strategy to the administration's mission and vision.
   
As the Senior Human Resource Business Partner, you’ll have a focus on the strategic planning of the division—helping develop our long-range goals. You’ll also be key in coaching and developing the staff that reports to you.  Your skills in relationship building will come in handy as you convey high expectations, of yourself and others, while you participate in the continuous improvement of our services and programs. While this is a hybrid opportunity, this position will need to come into the office as business needs require. 


 Some of what you'll do:
  • Provide strategic consultation on people and organizational development by ensuring alignment between the administration's operational business needs and future strategic outcomes.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for issues related to: investigative report analysis, disciplines, arbitrations, mediations, Human Rights Commission complaints, and tort claims by providing legal interpretation, guidance, consultation, and influencing management's decisions to protect the Agency from significant financial loss.
  • Collaborates with the Assistant Attorney General's Office, Washington State Patrol, and DES Risk Management regarding Self Insured Liability Account (SILA) funds, determining settlement strategies that reduce financial liability.
  • Develop and implement succession plans and conduct ongoing staffing analysis on current and future state staffing and skill needs that will build bench strength.
  • Supervises and responsible for HR Management within specified area. Responsible for ensuring department staff comply with Federal and State Laws by recommending best HR practices, and conducting training on a variety of HR topics. 
What we're looking for
Knowledge
Professionals who have a Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, business administration, or pubic administration or related degree and a minimum of six years' professional-level HR experience.
OR
Professionals who have a Master’s degree in human resource management, business administration, or pubic administration or related degree and a minimum of four years' professional-level HR experience.
Professional work experience may be considered in lieu of education.
 
*Additional professional human resource experience may be substituted year for year, for education. Professional-level Human Resource experience means working full-time as a Human Resource professional as a Generalist, Specialist, or Manager.
