This position serves as the program specialist responsible for programmatic maintenance of the Michigan Incident Crime Reporting (MICR) program, the National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS), and the Use of Force (UoF) data collection. NIBRS and UoF are administered by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). These programs require specialized management and technical knowledge of all three collections. This is the sole position for analyzing and interpreting MICR, NIBRS, and UoF program code. This position is responsible for the integrity of the data through the analysis of source data, testing of applications, and error resolution.

This position is also responsible for the overall development, implementation, and instruction of the MICR training program for presentation to law enforcement agencies across the state.

The Michigan State Police (MSP) is a full-service policing agency with statewide jurisdiction, providing over 60 different services either directly to Michigan residents or in support of other law enforcement agencies. The MSP personnel most visible to the public are the uniform troopers whose primary responsibilities include traffic enforcement, crime prevention and investigation, and community engagement and service.

Required Education and Experience

Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.


Four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.

This position requires passing a pre-employment screening, including passing a drug screen, criminal history background check, and a fingerprint check by the Michigan State Police.
