Overview


The Michigan Liquor Control Commission (MLCC) is filling a vacant Department Technician 7-9 position within the Licensing Division. This position is being reposted. If you've previously applied, your application is still being considered. 

Performs initial phase of the licensing process for both retail and non-retail licenses issued by the Michigan Liquor Control Commission by reviewing and evaluating documents, deeds, leases, incorporation papers, purchase agreements and other legal documentation to verify eligibility. Prepare notification letters, reports and telephone interviews to determine the need for further review on licensing applications prior to an enforcement assignment or commission consideration. Prepares agendas and itemizes criteria for presentation before the Commission. Handles complex telephone and email inquiries from licensees, local law enforcement agencies, local units of government, brokers, attorneys, and other interested parties relative to license applications, rules and statutory requirements. Reviews product registrations to ensure compliance with state laws.

Required Education and Experience

Education

Education typically acquired through completion of high school

Experience

Departmental Technician 7 

One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service. 

Departmental Technician 8 

One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service. 

OR 

One year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service. 

Departmental Technician E9 

One year of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service. 

OR 

One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service. 

OR 

Two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate level in state service.

Alternate Education and Experience

Departmental Technician (Trainee) 7 

Two years of experience in a 7 level or higher non-administrative support ECP Group One classification. 

OR 

One year of experience as a first-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification. 

Departmental Technician 7 

Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may be substituted for the experience requirement. 

Departmental Technician 8 

Possession of a Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the experience requirement. 

Departmental Technician E9 

Possession of a Bachelor’s degree and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.
