The County of San Luis Obispo Parks & Recreation Department is looking for qualified Equipment Mechanics to join their team! 

Under general supervision, locates mechanical trouble, and repairs and overhauls automotive, grounds maintenance and construction equipment; does arc and gas welding; and other related work as required.

The Ideal Candidate

Education and Experience

Equipment Mechanic I: Graduation from high school or a GED certificate; and one year of journeyworker experience in the maintenance, repair and overhaul of automotive and construction equipment, including experience in arc and gas welding.


Equipment Mechanic II: Graduation from high school or a GED certificate AND three years experience in the maintenance, repair and overhaul of automotive and construction equipment, including arc and gas welding.

Licenses and Certificates

A valid driver's license is required at the time of application. A valid CALIFORNIA driver's license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment. Possession of a Class A CALIFORNIA driver's license is required by the end of the six month probationary period.

Certification by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and/or other recognized certifications will be required when the certification is required for performance of job duties.
