Overview

Professional position serving as the specialist for advanced economic policy analysis of the Michigan individual income tax analyzing income tax issues for the Division Administrator, Bureau Director, the Department's Bureau of Legislative Affairs, the State Treasurer, Lobbyists, Legislators and the Governor, with only very broad policy direction. Specialist in the analysis of Michigan gaming issues, including the State Lottery, Detroit Casinos, Tribal gaming, and other gaming issues.

Required Education and Experience

Education 
Possession of a bachelor's degree with a major in economics.
 
Experience 

Note:  Experience is considered professional if the job requires a bachelor's degree.

Four years of professional experience performing economic analysis and modeling activities equivalent to an Economic Analyst, including two years equivalent to an Economic Analyst P11 or one year equivalent to an Economic Analyst 12.

Applicants who possess a degree from a foreign college or university must have their academic credentials evaluated or converted into U.S. educational equivalents unless the degree has been recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).  Go to for a list of accepted organizations that evaluate foreign credentials.  Failure to provide this evaluation at the time of application may result in you being screened out of the process.

This position is eligible to work remotely on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and must work onsite Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Selected candidate must have a safe and appropriate designated workspace or workstation for performance of work and secure and sufficient internet access of commercial cable or wireless broadband with minimum speeds of 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload. 

Work must be performed in the state of Michigan. If you currently reside outside of Michigan, you must relocate to Michigan to perform the duties of this position. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed.

The Michigan Department of Treasury participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S.

Interviews will likely occur virtually using Microsoft Teams. No prior experience with Teams is necessary, as instructions and tips will be provided to all candidates scheduled for an interview.
