Description of Job

The Field Equipment Technician is responsible for maintaining and trouble-shooting the technical aspects of the hardware and software associated with parking equipment. This position is also tasked with assisting field supervisor(s) in addressing staffing needs or providing coverage as a lead worker in the absence of the supervisor, providing customer service to the campus community, whether external or internal regarding parking on the Auraria Campus. The maintenance component of this helps to plan and coordinate repairs for the vehicles used, as well as keeping regular parking equipment fully functional and operational for regular business.

  • works closely with system vendors on firmware as well as hardware and software updates
  • maintains equipment and back office systems of pay stations and single-space parking meters; communicates changes in software to the AHEC I.T. Department
  • provides assistance to Field Supervisor(s) and Parking Specialists
  • coordinates and plans maintenance of parking vehicles
  • trains staff on the operation of parking equipment and ticket writer (LPR and handheld) devices
  • collects money using collection coin canister and cart following guidelines, policies and procedures for the collection and deposit of coin and currency
  • other duties of the position not listed here, other duties as assigned
Financial - records collection transactions, track maintenance and installation costs.  Submit quotes, estimates, and costs that have budgetary impact

Principal Interaction
- interacts with campus customers in face-to-face contact, telephone and e-mail, include working with AHEC staff, support staff from and vendors

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
  • 2 years' experience with parking systems and equipment, including T2, VenTek, IPS Group Inc., and Genetec parking systems
  • Valid and unencumbered Colorado driver license
  • The position requires ability to lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds
