Overview

As a programmer at the Harris County District Clerk’s Office, you will be responsible for developing, designing, and helping maintain web applications as well as software applications within our organization. Tasks will range from, but are not limited to bug fixes, application enhancements, application upgrades, and working individually or with our team on new projects. Some of your responsibilities will include writing, enhancing, debugging, and testing code using:

  • VB.Net

  • C#

  • SQL

  • HTML

  • CSS/Bootstrap or related CSS libraries

  • JavaScript/jQuery/AngularJS or related libraries

  • Visual Studio

  • SQL Server Management Studio

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from an accredited educational institution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years full-time paid experience in developing applications with VB.Net or C#, ASP.NET, Microsoft SQL Server.

  • Have a strong understanding of core programming fundamentals such as OOP.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Have the ability to work under stress and manage multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.

  • Flexible and able to work overtime with minimal notice as needed.

  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to expand technical skills on own initiative through personal study. Training resources may be provided.

  • Ability to advance at designated career development pace.

  • Ability to work in a team environment and meet assigned deadlines.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and with other team members.

  • Have excellent analytical, decision-making, and organizational skills.

  • Must be eligible for employment in the United States of America.

  • Knowledge of Visual Studio and TFS source control.

  • Comfortable using SQL Server Management Studio.

  • Knowledgeable in writing SQL (DML, DDL).

  • Experience with JavaScript, JavaScript libraries, Web Services (REST and WCF), AngularJS, Bootstrap, HTML, CSS, responsive design, and related libraries.

  • Knowledge of SOLID and other design principles is desirable, as well as code refactoring skills.

  • Ability to step through and debug code using VS, browser developer tools, or SQL profiler.

  • Fluid in the Microsoft Suite of applications.

  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language.

  • Emphasis in excellent problem solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Preferences
