Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in a human services field (i.e. psychology, social work, counseling) and three years of professional experience within the human services field is required; or an equivalent of training and experience. Must be licensed to practice psychotherapy in Virginia (Licensed Professional Counselor/LPC, Licensed Clinical Social Worker/LCSW, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist/LMFT, etc.) or will become licensed within six months of hire. Experience reflecting provision of assessment, case management, individual and group services is required. The preferred candidate will have a working knowledge of community-based resources and a local network that supports connections to these resources. Candidate will have knowledge of evidence-based therapy techniques, safety/risk assessment, and differential diagnosis assessment specific to substance use. Preferred applicant must be flexible, well-organized and capable of working within a large multidisciplinary team. Experience with electronic medical record and bilingual language competency is preferred. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification required. 


Chesterfield County's Department of Mental Health Support Services, Substance Use Services division is seeking an experienced therapist who displays a passion for working with adults with substance use and co-occurring disorders. This is a senior-level position that will be housed within the County's Office Based Addiction Treatment (OBAT) program. OBAT is a medication assisted treatment (MAT) program which provides evidence-based care through a combination of prescription medication and group therapy services. The qualified candidate will demonstrate focused knowledge and direct experience with medication assisted treatments including Suboxone, Vivitrol, Naltrexone and Methadone. Demonstrate competence in targeted case management, as well as provision of group and individual therapy services to individuals within a community mental health setting. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate competence in the completion of biopsychosocial clinical assessments and diagnosis for co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Seeking someone who values of diversity and inclusion as well as compassionate care techniques as they are embedded in trauma-informed care practices. Weekly supervision will be provided. 40 hours/week; Monday through Friday with two required evening shifts until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Option for either a five-day work week or four-day work week.
