Current opening is in the Employment and Economic Assistance and located primarily at the Northern Service Center in West Saint Paul, MN.

This position plays a lead role in providing technical support to the department. Responsible for assisting with work direction, training, providing project management associated with  managing databases and information systems; providing direction and follow-through for problem diagnosis and resolution; processing requests for user authorization, hardware management, and report processing.
 

Minimum Qualifications


• Bachelor's Degree in the field of Computer Science or closely related field and 2 years of experience developing , implementing, modifying and maintaining database applications and providing lead technical support on both hardware and software needs.
OR
• Associate's Degree in the field of Computer Science or closely related field and 4 years of experience developing , implementing, modifying and maintaining database applications and providing lead technical support on both hardware and software needs.
OR
• An equivalent combination of education and experience mentioned above to total 6 years.
AND
• Direct Microsoft Office Suite 2010, 2019, or Office 365 work experience.

Required license(s):
· Possess a valid driver's license, and have access to the use of a vehicle during regular office hours.  
 

Duties & Responsibilities

These examples do not include all possible tasks in this work and do not limit the assignment of related tasks in any position of this classification. Regular attendance according to the position's management approved work schedule is required for all positions.

1. Provide lead customer service support on both hardware and software needs. First call for help on a daily basis and provides all follow-through for technical diagnosis and resolution to solve complex hardware, software, and application problems.
2.. Provide orientation to new employees on equipment and software, work with ISS team(s) to identify technology related training needs, and develop, implement and coordinate technical training for the Department.
3. Act as a liaison with the County's Information Technology Department to receive and communicate pertinent information to departmental staff as needed, as well as relay department issues effectively.
4. Install, support and maintain department hardware including PC's, multifunction machines that include printers, scanners and all audiovisual equipment.
5. Provide technical expertise in Microsoft products, OnBase EDMS and other Social Services or state systems.
6. Research and recommend technology solutions to enhance processes.
7. Assist with special projects relating to implementation of technology hardware of software.
8. Perform public health emergency response functions as trained and assigned within the department's emergency response plan.
9. Modify and maintain database applications and their integrity.
10. Demonstrates a commitment to support cultural diversity County wide, actively supports the County's inclusion, diversity and equity initiatives, and works to address the needs of diverse and underserved communities.

• Knowledge of computer hardware and software and ability to apply acquired knowledge and translate to other employees.
• Knowledge of wide area networks, networking, cabling and communications equipment.
Knowledge of integrated telecommunications systems that include soft phone technology, such as Skype.
• Ability to apply project management skills and provide leadership in a team environment.
• Ability to apply the concepts and issues related to the integration and interfacing of various software systems and system components.
• Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot and problem solve under pressure.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in a County office building. Some travel is required between buildings. Lifting requirement of up to 20 pounds on an occasional basis. Equipment used may include, but is not limited to, computer, printer, telephone, calculator, copy and fax machines, LCD projector, hand tools and laptop.
