JOIN US FOR A SPECIAL HIRING EVENT ON:  Wednesday, May 17, 2023 from 3:30pm to 6:30pm at the Human Resources Division located at 1115 Truxtun Avenue, 1st Floor, Bakersfield, CA 93301. You will be given the opportunity to have your resume and application pre-screened, on site.

Examination: 

Performance Exam(Weight 100%):This exam will evaluate the applicants skills in information analysis and written communication and may be administered on a computer.


The Human Resources Division may solely conduct an appraisal of application materials should there be an insufficient number of candidates to warrant a performance examination. Should a performance examination be necessary, the performance examination will be weighted at 100%.


Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the exam process.
 Minimum Qualifications/Employment Standards: 
  • High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent.
  • Four years of progressively responsible clerical experience, including two years as a Sheriff's Records Supervisor OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to obtain the knowledge and skill to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Certification of Typing/Keyboarding speed of 50 net words per minute.
  • Possession of a Valid California Driver's License may be required upon appointment for some positions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • POST Supervisory Certification.
  • Public Records Act Certification.
  • POST Basic Records Certification.
  • CLETS Full Access Trainer Certification.

Applicants MUST submit a copy of their typing or keyboard certificate, issued within the last two years, verifying a speed of 50 net words per minute and attach it with their completed application. Certificates must conform to testing standards adopted by the Civil Service Commission. Typing certificates information may be found
