Trade Show Manager

Job Summary:
The Trade Show Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the transportation of customer merchandise to/from major shows throughout the U.S. (approximately 200 major and minor shows annually) as well as the day-to-day schedules, responsibilities of the Show staff (both internal PT and external PT staff).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan & oversee the operational and commercial success of all USA Tradeshows
  • Create employee Show schedules and monitor related OT.
  • Solicit present and potential customers for upcoming domestic shows; develop sales presentations, close sales, develop and propose Special Rate Plans, promote At-Show Insurance
  • Manage the day-to-day performance of Show staff members and where appropriate administer the performance management processes in partnership with HR.
  • Consult with international jewelers regarding information and special clauses of At-Show Insurance; advise all customers (internal/external) on US customs policies for imports bound for US shows; manage and resolve all service complaints diplomatically, escalating when necessary.
  • Respond to client inquiries as required including show dates, Brink’s services, and rates.
  • Conduct annual rate increase exercise and deploy new rate structures and instructions to Sales Organization (working closely with Director of Diamond & Jewelry).
  • Work closely with Affiliates and Country GMs in developing rates for USA Domestic & International Shows and longer-term growth strategies.
  • Develop strategic vendor relationships and negotiate best available pricing for labor, marketing materials, supplies, etc.
  • Collaborate with Security Manager and Director as it relates to ongoing Security changes, coordination of overall security for all shows within the organization as well as the processing of customer claims.
  • Work directly with the Over The Road (OTR) Division to plan and coordinate domestic ground Show transportation.
  • Travel to various cities where major shows are taking place, set up and work show, prepare documentation, assist in opening/closing, and supervise operations.
  • Collaborate with Billing Manager to generate customer invoices (Domestic & International), including At-Show Insurance and respond to affiliate inquiries.
  • Work closely with Director Of Collections and assist in the resolution of overdue client receivables.
  • Develop, maintain, and deploy training for team over the course of the year and identify and execute on operational efficiency improvements.
  • Consistently update SOP’s and SWI’s for Show Operations and Commercial practices.
  • Review and approve Travel Requests and expense reports for the Show team staff.
  • Create comprehensive Show LOB Budgets & P&L’s working closely with BGS FP&A Manager.
  • Cross-train and develop staff and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7-years of experience in Show industry management in positions of increasing responsibility with a focus on multiple location management and process implementation.
  • Be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Valid firearms permit or ability to pass applicable firearms licensing requirements
  • A valid guard card or ability to obtain a guard card or any other required licenses.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expert knowledge of logistical operations, products, services, policies, and procedures, in addition to a familiarity with the customers and the industries serviced.
  • Large market experience
  • Working knowledge of Lean/Process Improvement methodologies
  • Bachelor’s degree
