Overview

You will train staff in the use of all electronic applications and develop and deliver technical tax system training in order to meet agency business needs. Working with Tax and Wage Technology staff and IT liaison to report any system issues and transactions and recommends solutions. Performing user acceptance testing for Tax Accounting program changes to ensure the correct actions are taken without unintended consequences. Additionally, you will assist the unit supervisor to ensure performance goals are met and unit tasks are completed in a timely and accurate manner and to identify unit backlogs and prioritization of resources to reduce those backlogs.

Some of what you'll be doing:

  • Assist Tax Specialists in investigating and resolving complex tax and wage issues.
  • Audit the payments deposited from bank to ensure the correct payments were deposited into the UI Trust Fund.
  • Process the Daily Bank Reconciliation Worksheet, Debit and Credit adjustments and book transfers to ensure all payments are posted to employer’s accounts accurately and timely.
  • Work with IT liaison to submit tickets to address any payment issues.
  • Responsible for maintaining four web decisioning queues in bank website.  
Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications:
A combination of education and relevant experience equivalent to six (6) years which includes experience examining and/or processing loan applications, medical insurance or rehabilitation claims, insurance claims, collection of insurance premiums, tax collection or providing staff support in financial eligibility determination, AND a minimum of 12 semester or 18 quarter hours of college-level accounting and two years of professional accounting or auditing experience.

OR: One year as a ES Benefits Specialist 2, AND a minimum of 12 semester or 18 quarter hours of college-level accounting and two years of professional accounting or auditing experience.

OR: One year of experience equivalent to the ES Benefits Specialist 2 with another state that administers insurance benefits programs AND a minimum of 12 semester or 18 quarter hours of college-level accounting and two years of professional accounting or auditing experience..
 


Education to Experience Equivalences:
Associate Degree = 2 years | Bachelor’s Degree = 4 years | Master’s = 5 years

Applicable Degrees include:

Business or Public Administration / Accounting / Law / or Related Field


Additional professional-level accounting or auditing experience will substitute, year for year, for education except for the 12 semester or 18 quarter hours of college-level accounting.  

Preferred:
A Bachelor's degree which includes a minimum of 12 semester or 18 quarter hours of college-level accounting and three years of professional accounting or auditing experience.

  • Must be able to pass an Unemployment Insurance (UI) Claim & Benefit Information Review.
